**18th @ GOOSEBOWL 2005**
Dearest Jonathan,
CONGRATS!!
What a way to finish the touring season on a high note beating Torontula’s B team and ending well above Zen and MMV. We finished 2nd in our pool, 18th overall out of 42, went 5 and 2 this weekend, and improved on our initial seed by 21.
Not only was the weather beautiful, we played some of the sickest ultimate we’ve had this season. Each and every player on this team should be proud and extremely happy with their play. Everyone contributed with their intensity, experience and above all spirit, and each one of us has their own highlight reels! I.E. Greg tracking down one of Mark’s hucks in the end zone, sandwiched between a Torontula A player and a B player, Greg comes down with the disc for the point!!! Sooo sick...SOOOO SICK!!! :)
Among all the crazy stuff we pulled out of the bag of tricks, I must mention the awesomeness plays courtesy of Sarah McKnight. The consistency of her throws up field, the easy dumps, pulling down floaters, D blocks, cup running, and those beautiful cuts; cup crashing no less! Absolutely wonderful! Keep it up girl!!
Finally, much thanks to John, Penny, Bronwyn, Sarah Kidd and Jeannette for playing. We couldn’t have done it without you guys, especially the ladies!! Oh, the joy’s of iron woman :P Bronwyn, I hope we didn’t break you :S You were awesome! Especially playing our first two games in runners and in mud.
Thanks team for a wonderful season. I can’t wait until the season starts again. Hopefully we’ll be able to attend a few more tournaments next summer. Until then stay healthy, good luck with fall league, winter league, off season ultimate, school, work, and life :)
We played hard and we ROCKED!!
GO JONNY!!!
Cheers!!
Bon

First and foremost I just wanted to say thanks to the team for always making me feel welcome to play with you guys. This was such a sick weekend and I was proud to be a part of Jonathan to help you guys through it. Even though the ranking ment nothing starting off 39th and then finishing 18th ahead of other competitive teams is pretty amazing .... (ahem Zen, MMV, Torontula).
I think this weekend has shown the team what its capable of when its operating on all cylinders and I personally think that you guys are ready to step up to the touring level. With a little guidence, refinement and side line support Jonathan could easily become Toronto's fourth touring team and consistently rival that of Zen and MMV. I've had the priviledge of playing with you guys several times this year, not to mention watching you play and I've noticed a huge developmental curve. Everytime I see you guys in action you cut harder and faster, you move the disc with more precision and with better decisions, you guys are constantly pulling in hard grabs against some tough players and you guys gel more and more as a team.
The one thing that amazes me the most about the team is its ability to adapt to the situation of the game. I know you've all heard of taking what the defence gives you but you guys take what the other team gives you and you run with it. This isn't something that can be taught, it comes from experience playing more often and with each other as well as its some what instinctual. The way the enitre team is always on the same page is the perfect building block to begin touring on.
Prime example is the transition between the Lobster game and the Torontula game. How many of you guys took one look at those teams and felt intimidated? Not once did I doubt the ability of Jonathan to give those guys a good run for their money. Lobster emphasized the short game and didn't want to toss anything into the wind. Jonathan responded by clogging their lanes, playing one HELL of a cup and running interference with their mids. Needless to say we shut them down HARD. Then with the Torontula game Tula wanted to stretch it long and use their speed. Again Jonathan was right with them matching them stride for stride, sky for sky, lay out for lay out, not to mention they're a university open and womens team combined. Jonathan kept the lanes open took advantage of poaches and capitalized on the majority of their mistakes. I distinctly remember Greg being sandwiched between an A player and a B player only to be the last one standing one handed with the disc with two Tula players at his feet. Vince held on to the disc despite being run over by Eli, Thomson was workin it as a handler and as a deep, Sarah had hands like glue in the mid and helped our transition into the red zone huge.
This team has so much potential to tour that I would like to see it happen, and if you guys want I'd be willing to help everyone develop individually and as a team for as far as I could take you.......which would be pretty far :)
This weekend I was proud to say I played for Jonathan. Good times, excellent playing and hopefully I'll play with you guys sooner rather than later.
Markus
